How to be content in your business

I recently experienced something I've NEVER experienced on vacation.

Our kids were on Spring Break and it worked out that all three of them were off school at the same time, so we took the opportunity to get away.

We were looking forward to this vacation on Lake Sinclair for WEEKS! The setting was gorgeous, a two story home surrounded by red Georgia clay.

There were tall trees on either side of this property with a wide angle view of the most peaceful lake. The sunrise and sunset was breathtaking and the weather was absolutely perfect, I’m talking back porch, coffee sipping, perfect.

We spend two full days, unplugged, playing, fishing, and making memories….and then… I woke up on our last day with CRUSHING anxiety. My heart was beating out of my chest, I couldn’t breath, and I was doing everything I knew to calm it down. Breathing techniques, grounding outside, gentle exercise, and still…heart racing.

I was pissed. Yep, I just said ‘pissed’ haha. But it was true!

I was so angry because despite everything I’ve been through battling my health in the last two years; losing my ability to work behind the chair, using our emergency fund for the unending medical bills, and so much more, I’ve never had to take medicine to calm my anxiety.

But here we are, on VACATION and I can’t calm down?!

The problem is, when you have been in survival mode for so long, it's really hard to see how far you’ve come.

It’s really hard to be content when you feel like you haven’t ‘made it’ or you aren’t ‘successful’ in your eyes or your industry’s eyes.

But can I tell you something…. You HAVE to silence the noise around you and what the world is telling you is successful. I HAVE to silence the noise around me and what the world is telling me is successful.

When you are a mom who loves to work, don’t lose sight of the big picture. Our greatest job will be raising these kids, being fully present and available for them emotionally, as well as, physically healthy to keep up. We will never get this time back.

I’m still unclear about where my anxiety came from, but I know one thing is true… I want to build a life that frees me from worry. I want you to have a life free of worry.

Scripture says ‘Do not be afraid’ 365 times throughout the bible. Building a life free of worry does not come from financial success, it comes from resting in God’s provision.

And let’s be honest, fully surrendering to that is hard.

But we can; we can choose to be content and celebrate the success of how far we’ve come.

If you needed to hear this, would you please let me know what you found to be most helpful?

And if you would like to get everything out of your head and onto paper, download my Free Goal Planner. I recommend writing down your goals, creating a plan to reach them, and then Give it to God. He’s bigger than any worry we will ever have.
